Volunteer Opportunities

Align Minneapolis member congregations provide a variety of direct services and engaging activities with members of the community. Check back regularly for an updated list of opportunities!

SECOND SUNDAY MEAL HOSPITALITY

Once per month, on each Second Sunday, Align supports the community meal at Plymouth Congregational Church

Help with set-up and tear down, pack to-go meals and bags of fresh produce for guests, and welcome guests. You can volunteer for one Second Sunday or multiple Second Sundays! Ability to lift and move food boxes and a comfort in interacting with the public are preferred qualifications for this opportunity.

Time Commitment: 4:15pm-6:15pm (2 hours per month)

If interested, please contact Katie Dillon, Director of Align Minneapolis, katie@alignmpls.org

Dignity Center opportunities

The Dignity Center (part of member congregation Hennepin Avenue United Methodist) has volunteer opportunities in four areas:

Advocates meet one-on-one with clients to develop a supportive relationship to assist them in identifying and developing goals for greater stability in their lives and a step-by-step plan for achieving their goals.

Intake volunteers greet people at the door, gather basic information, including why they have come to The Dignity Center, and provide a brief orientation about our services and what they can expect from The Dignity Center.

Hospitality volunteers provide a welcoming atmosphere. They make sure there are refreshments readily available, pack sack lunches for anyone who would like to take one with them and visit with clients who are waiting to meet with their advocate.

Reception volunteers work in the office answering calls, checking messages, setting appointments and filing assistance requests and other documents.
