Align MPLS Spring+ 2024 Organizing Guide

Congregational Organizing is vital to the work Align Minneapolis does in addressing homelessness. Our Campaign Guide provides ample opportunity for values and beliefs to meet action and praxis. Whether directly serving someone experiencing homelessness or advocating for laws and policies that creates more affordable housing or better serves our unsheltered neighbors, each act of engagement either introduces, inculcates, or reinforces faith inspired values.

NAVIGATING THE SYSTEM: The complex web of shelter, services and housing in Minneapolis and Hennepin County

In Hennepin County and Minneapolis there are many different resources for people experiencing homelessness. However, access to resources, services and housing opportunities can be incredibly difficult and confusing to navigate. The Education section of our Spring+ Guide includes a graphic and details that touch on some of the ways people may be able to access supports. However, barriers are often present and if someone doesn’t know the right things to ask for, or doesn’t meet certain requirements for different resources, they may not find the help that they need. As a community of faith congregations we can help people to understand how to access these supports and connect into the system that can potentially help move people along their housing journey. Also included in the Guide are links to resources that we can all get to know to help our neighbors experiencing homelessness navigate the system.
